Back to School!

Summer is coming to an end and I am gearing up for a new group of sweet kinders! Setting up the classroom each year helps get me excited and ease the sadness of no more sleeping in.

At my school, kindergarteners have a staggered entry over 3 days, with just a small group coming each day. This helps the kids (and me) to ease into the kindergarten routine. It also allows me to learn their names and any quirks much faster! It is so much easier to learn 5-6 names a day instead of 18-20.

I have been working on a Welcome to Kindergarten brochure to send out to my students and their families. It describes staggered entry to them and lets them know what day will be their first day of school. I also relisted the supply list and reminded them about Meet Your Teacher day. It is listed as a FREE download in my TPT store.

I am always looking for better ways to make sure the my parents get the info I need them to have. These days not everyone remembers to check the planner each night...as much as I want them too. I am excited to try out remind101.com to communicate with my parents this year. It is a free service that allows you to send out mass, secure texts and emails. Have any of you tried it out?

Only 1 more day of vacation left for me. :(
